Southern covered halls

Mercado do Livramento in Setúbal, Mercado Central in Valencia and Mercado del Olivar in Palma are covered food halls with fish, cheese and fruit stalls. Azulejo tile panels line the walls of the Setúbal hall, and the Palma hall has traded since 1951. Olhão Market has two red-brick halls from 1916 by the Ria Formosa harbour, and the fish hall is the draw. Les Halles de Biarritz and Les Halles de Narbonne have food stalls, and Narbonne's stalls serve cooked food at counters and stools.

Halls in northern Europe

Bury, Swansea and Norwich have covered market halls, with meat, fish and bread stalls in Bury and Swansea and food stalls from many cuisines in Norwich. Markthalle Stuttgart is a 1914 Art Nouveau hall with food stalls on the ground floor and home decor shops upstairs. Östermalms Saluhall in Stockholm has fish, seafood, cheese and cured meats in a brick and cast iron building from 1888. Central Market in Voronezh makes marshmallows, chocolate and dumplings on its second floor.

Weekly and street markets

Münster Weekly Market fills Domplatz beside the cathedral on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with stalls from the Münsterland region and the Netherlands. Isemarkt in Hamburg stretches almost a kilometre under the elevated U3 railway, which keeps the market dry in rain. Arles Market in Arles is an open-air street market along about 2.5 kilometres of a closed road. Münstermarkt in Freiburg has the Lange Rote, a long red sausage in a roll, eaten standing at the stalls.
