Central Chilean valleys

Alyan Family Wines in Pirque, in the Maipo Valley, makes Chardonnay, Carménère and Panaceia, and its visits end with a dinner. Clos Apalta in Apalta, Colchagua Valley, is built into a mountainside, and its tour of the gravity-fed levels finishes in the underground cellar. Viña Montes, also in Apalta, is a family-run winery known for Purple Angel and Montes Alpha. Viña Concha y Toro in Pirque has gardens, vineyards and cellars on its guided tour, and Viña Santa Rita in Buin has a historic estate park. Viña Aquitania in Peñalolén, at the foot of the Andes, is a small organic boutique winery.

Malbec and the Uco Valley

Bodega Catena Zapata in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, is a family winery known for Malbec and a pyramid-shaped building among its high-altitude vineyards. Zuccardi Valle de Uco in Paraje Altamira is built with regional stone and uses concrete-tank fermentation. Anaia in Agrelo, Mendoza, is a modern winery built around wines made with technology and innovation.

Serra Gaúcha

Casa Valduga is a family winery in Bento Gonçalves, in the Vale dos Vinhedos of Rio Grande do Sul, and its estate has a restaurant and shop. Ravanello Winery in Gramado, in the Serra Gaúcha, makes still and sparkling wines from Tannat, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Its visits end with a five-wine tasting.
