Highest summit of Réunion and the Indian Ocean at about 3,070 m, reached from Le Bloc above Cilaos via the Caverne Dufour refuge. Most hikers climb by headlamp to watch sunrise above the clouds, with views over the Cilaos, Mafate and Salazie cirques.
