Ireland's highest mountain, at 1,038 m, is climbed from the car parks at Cronin's Yard in the MacGillycuddy's Reeks. Most hikers ascend the steep, loose Devil's Ladder gully, and the summit cross often sits in cloud as the weather shifts quickly.
